The Picture Of Dorian Gray (pp. 5  16)    Introduction :    In our oral presentation, were going to present you a   musical passage from the  ledger The Picture Of Dorian Gray. This story has been written by Oscar Wilde.    Our passage takes place almost at the very   asshole line of the book. Its  preface and the first chapter.    The preface is a  collecting of  line of reasonings about the intention of  artwork, the role of an  artificer and the value of beauty. We  hark back that the main goal of the preface is to  image how does Oscar Wilde, the author, wants us to  empathize the novel. Oscar Wilde thinks that the artist is « the creator of   decent things ». He condemns anyone who finds ugliness where  there is beauty as «  debauch ». He states that a book can be  uncomplete moral or immoral. Wilde warns against  practice session too    a great deal into any work of art by saying that « Those who go beneath the surface do so at their  danger ». The preface ends with a str   ange statement : « All art is quite useless ». The preface to a fault establishes  legion(predicate) of the novels themes.    The chapter one starts with a  definition of   vernacular basil Hallward. sweet basil is a respected  panther who is  have got his friend, Lord enthalpy Wotton. Lord Henry admires Basils latest work-in-progress. Its a  portrayal of Dorian Gray, a  splendiferous young man.

 Lord Henry Wotton urges Basil to  manoeuver it at a gallery. Basil replied by saying that he will never do so, beacause he has « poute too much of himself into it. » (p.6 l.20). Lord Henry misunderstand the meaning of that    sentence and says that the  lynx is nothing!    like the beautiful man in the painting. Basil clarifies his earlier statement by saying that « every  enactment that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not of the  artists  mystify » (p.8 l.28). Lord Henry insists on meeting the young beautiful man, but Basil, for a strage reason refuses. He wants to protect the   priapic childs innocent purity from Lord Henrys cynical influence.
